WHO IS MELDA DOGAN?
A trilingual professional journalist
and digital content producer
I've started my journalism career in January 2016 at TRT World. I have worked in an international newsroom as an output producer from 2016 to 2017. In May 2017, I have become field producer for programmes. I have played crucial role in delivering ground breaking reports during the 2017 referendum, the 2018 presidential elections in Turkey, and Turkish military operations in Syria in 2017 and 2018. In 2018, I have been granted a scholarship for a masters degree at the Department of International Development in King's College London. During my studies in London, I have continued to work for Turkish public broadcaster as a reporter from London and Europe area. In September 2019, I have shifted my focus from broadcast to digital and become a digital producer and reporter. I have delivered numerous explanatory journalism pieces. In May 2022, my mini-documentary about lab-grown meat has gone viral on social media and caused outrage for promoting foreign conspiracy(!) and haram meat(!). This incident has been a turning point in my career, my documentary was taken off air, therefore I have decided to continue my passion as a lone wolf. Since, I have gained experienced in almost all aspects of media production, including working in a fast-paced international newsroom, field experience in war zones and creating hundreds of engaging, compelling and factual content on a daily basis; I have decided to go freelance. I'm currently working on documentary projects and feature pieces in digital, TV and print for international audiences in three languages: English, French and Turkish. Besides the projects features on my website, I have co-produced two short movies for international film festivals.
